OUR STORY

How We Got Started

The dance studio at 15 2nd Street N, Dance Workshop II has run continuously for over 30 years. In the fall of 2018, Emily Anton took over as the artistic director of the studio. In 2019, the studio moved to a different location and changes the name to The Ballet and Movement School.  Also in 2019, TBAMS became a  501c3 nonprofit organization to better serve the San Juan Island community.

Following a successful 10 year performing career as a professional ballet dancer in New York City and around the country, Anton taught as a guest teacher at a number of dance schools up and down the West Coast. Now, Anton is loving having the opportunity to settle Friday Harbor to mentor, perform, choreograph and teach the art form of ballet.

Argentine Tango for Absolute Beginners

Taught by Emily Anton and Jason Knott

A sensual, beautiful dance for couples and individuals to come together in shared connection for one song (at a time). This series of 6 classes is designed for absolute beginners and is open to couples as well as individuals.  Dancing couples rotate periodically throughout the class to allow lots of experience dancing with different partners as every partner comes with a new learning experience.
